Bullies cut from scene

Caleb McClure is a star on the rise.

The Wyndham Vale teenager has already appeared in 17 short films and had a role in television series Underbelly: Squizzy, but this year he will hit the screen in two new Australian films, Holding the Man and The Legend of Ben Hall, which starts filming this month.

Although he started modelling at the age of four, Caleb, now 14, always dreamed of becoming an actor.

“I did an acting course and thought it was pretty cool,” he said. “Every time I work on a film, it gives me a kick and makes me want to do more – it’s just a lot of fun.

“Working on Squizzy with [actors] Jared Daperis, Luke Ford and Matt Boesenberg was amazing. It was a great environment and I enjoyed acting alongside such creative people,” McClure said.

“Films are about making history and bringing stories to life and it’s a privilege to be part of them.”

However, McClure’s journey towards becoming an actor hasn’t been easy.

Bullied at school because of his acting aspirations, he now does his classes at home and is an ambassador of anti-bullying group, Don’t Bully.

“I’m really passionate about helping others because nobody should be bullied,” he said.
