Open mic

Showcase your music and network at a free open mic night for young people aged 12 to 25 this Saturday at the Wyndham Youth Resource Centre,
86 Derrimut Road, Hoppers Crossing. Solo artists and bands of all genres are welcome, with drums, amplifiers and mics provided. Doors open at 5pm.

Fruit trees

Horticulturist Craig Castree will be at Werribee Park heritage orchard at K Road, Werribee South, every Friday until March27, from 9.45am to give hints on grafting, pruning and fungal control. Bring a hat, sunscreen and secateurs. Enter by gate 2 and follow the signs.

Rhythms of Africa

Bringing together a magic mix of warm summer nights, African beats and picnics on the grass, the summer concert series ends this Saturday at Werribee Open Range Zoo, K Road, Werribee South, 4.30-8.30pm. Adults $30.80, under-16s admitted free, including zoo entry.

Movie night

Baden Powell College is hosting a movie night on Friday, screening Mr Peabody & Sherman. Gates open at 6pm for an 8-8.30pm start. Tickets at the school or on the gate. Derrimut Heath Campus, 31 Sycamore Street, Hoppers Crossing.

Singing workshop

Join former Choir of Hard Knocks music director and multi-award winning conductor and teacher Dr Jonathon Welch for a community singing workshop and concert on Saturday and Sunday, 10am-4pm, at Wyndham Cultural Centre, 177 Watton Street, Werribee. Workshop tickets $40, concert tickets $10.

Senior drivers’ expo

Roadsafe Westgate Community Road Safety Council will hold a Senior Driver Expo in Altona on March 14. Information will be provided about road laws, health and the effects of medicines on driving. Everyone taking part will receive a free roadworthy and safety assessment of their car. Limited places, so bookings are essential.

Maltese classes

Learn Maltese at Kelly Park community centre every Monday, 6.30-8.30pm. There are classes for adults, beginners and younger people.

Free basic computer and internet sessions are available for seniors (50 and older) at 15 Perkins Avenue, Hoppers Crossing, every Saturday from 10am. Sessions run for 40 minutes.
