Running and winning are two things Luke Searle won’t tire of any time soon.
The qualified hairdresser has been training hard for the annual Wyndham Rotary Fun Run – an event he’s won eight years in a row and hopes to take out again on March 1.
Mr Searle, along with hundreds of participants around the region, will don running shoes to help raise funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
The fun run will start at Chirnside Park, Werribee, from 8.30am, with competitors tackling either a five-kilometre/10-kilometre run or a four-kilometre/eight-kilometre walk along the Werribee River.
It takes determination and discipline to succeed in the event, Mr Searle said.
“I just love running and enjoy keeping fit, and the Wyndham Rotary Fun Run is for an excellent cause. I do a lot of fun runs in Melbourne and each one is training in preparation for the next.”
The event, sponsored by Star Weekly, is in its eighth year.
The Western Recreational Running Group will provide free training in the lead-up to the run, with sessions at the VU athletics track, Hoppers Lane, Werribee, every Thursday from 6.15pm.
Entries are open for individuals and teams of friends, families or workmates.
