Backyard chooks

Pick up tips on keeping backyard chooks at the Eco Living Centre, 28 Ridge Drive, Wyndham Vale, on March 14, from 10am-noon. The workshop will cover council regulations, the benefits of keeping chickens, food and diets, and tips on reducing odours.

Midsumma lounge

Kelly Park will be transformed into a magical outdoor lounge on Saturday, February 7, as part of the Midsumma Festival. From 4pm, there will be live music featuring Monique Brumby and her band alongside local talent, and children’s and art activities.

Wyndham sings

Join the Tides of Welcome Choir for a weekend of singing workshops with renowned choir director Jonathan Welch at Wyndham Cultural Centre from February 28-March 1. The workshops will run from 10am both days, with a community concert on March 1 from 3-4.15pm. Workshop tickets cost $40, concert tickets cost

Chinese school

Learn Chinese at the Werribee Chinese School. The school has moved to Emmanuel College, 2 Foxwood Drive, Point Cook. The classes, for students five and older, run from 9.30am to noon, and noon to 2.30pm.

Grafting day

Head to Werribee Park Heritage Orchard on Sunday, February 15, from 10am-3pm for the annual grafting day. The orchard has lots of stonefruit scion to pick from, giving keen gardeners plenty of options for their backyards. Trees cost $5 and come with after-care and planting details.

Country music

Join the king and queen of country music, Lee Kernaghan and Kasey Chambers, at Werribee Park on Sunday, February 22, for Live on the Lawn. Including Adam Brand, Morgan Evans and Melbourne’s own Deep Creek Road, the best of Australia’s country music scene will be there. Tickets from Ticketmaster cost $84.50. It’s free for children under 12.
