Wyndukes members have a thing for four strings

Whenever you hear the ukulele, it’s bound to put a smile on your face.

Until now, strummers across Wyndham have only had books and videos to teach them the ways of the four strings, but not any more.

Wyndukes is a collective of ukulele players who meet weekly to practise and share techniques, songs and laughs.

On Saturday, they will host an intensive workshop where they will provide tips on how to play the instrument made famous by the likes of Tiny Tim and most commonly associated with music from Hawaii.

The ukulele has also been used in modern interpretations of Over the Rainbow and What A Wonderful World.

All you need to be part of the workshop is a ukulele.

The workshop will cover skills such as co-ordination, listening, tone, touch, groove and dynamics.

The workshop will be held on Saturday at 12.30pm.

Wyndukes meet Thursdays from 10-11am at the Kelly Park Community Centre, 1 Synnot Street, Werribee.
