A Werribee employment agency has won a federal government contract to help people with disabilities find work.
From March, MAX Solutions will be part of a $300 million-a-year government program aimed at helping more people secure employment.
Patron and Liberal senator for Lalor Michael Ronaldson said the program would help job-seekers with temporary or permanent disabilities, injuries or health conditions.
The service was previously provided by CRS Australia.
“Improving job opportunities for people with disability is a major priority for the Australian government and I’m pleased that MAX Solutions will be working to do just that in our local community,” Mr Ronaldson said.
“This is a great outcome for job-seekers in Lalor with disabilities.”
MAX Employment managing director Deborah Homewood said it was a privilege to be part of the program.
“We’re excited to have this opportunity to assist more job-seekers into meaningful, sustainable employment and to work with Australian employers to prove that disability is not a barrier,” she said.
“One in five people have a disability, but this is no reason not to succeed in the workplace. Studies have found no difference in performance and productivity; in fact, employees with disabilities have fewer scheduled absences and increased retention.”
