Retired cops follow the beat to Hoppers Crossing lunch

Retired police officers from across the western suburbs gathered in Hoppers Crossing last week for a lunch honouring their commitment to the community.

Among the 100 retired officers at the Hoppers Crossing Club event were Geoff Armstrong, 90, Charlie Smellie, 90, and George Cavanagh, 93.

The retired cops had the chance to hear from Police Association secretary and former homicide detective Ron Iddles.

The annual lunch, organised by club chairman Gary Jose, is now in its 32nd year.
