Werribee Shire Council has been served a writ from solicitors for the designer of Laverton Swimming Pool claiming $12,992, interests and costs. The writ claims the amount is due and owing for work and labor carried out for council at its request. It seeks a trial by judge alone.

November 7, 1984

Werribee Racing Club’s first meeting on its new track drew the biggest crowd in the club’s history. The Werribee Cup was won by Martian’s Son in a record-breaking 2.42.1 on the new, hard track. A record crowd of 10,500 people watched.

In the spirit of a true champion, Werribee Cup winner Grass Valley romped home to the cheers of thousands at the Werribee Racecourse last week – his fourth country cup win in 12 months.

A Tarneit primary school principal who stole more than $30,000 in school funds to fuel her gambling addiction walked free from Werribee Magistrates Court last week. She pleaded guilty to one count each of theft and obtaining property by deception. She was convicted on both charges and sentenced to nine months in prison, to be served in the community as an intensive corrections order.
