Wyndham’s 150th anniversary was celebrated in glamorous style at Werribee Mansion last Friday.
About 200 guests enjoyed a grand ball and an opportunity to relive past glories at the city’s most historic venue, which was built by brothers Thomas and Andrew Chirnside in the 1870s.
On March 11, 1864, the Governor of Victoria, Sir Charles Henry Darling, proclaimed the Wyndham Road District – an area of 100 square miles with an annual rates collection of £1000 – as the Shire of Wyndham.
