Baseball Victoria: Werribee Giants hit back for first win

Werribee Giants have notched up their first win of the Baseball Victoria summer league division 2 season, downing St Kilda 5-2 in the second round at Presidents Park on Sunday.

The Giants were eager to give new coach Justin Charles a winning start on their home diamond after being routed by Sunshine on the road in the season opener.

The Giants (1-1) will be at home on Sunday for a clash with Port Melbourne (1-1), starting at 3.30pm.

In women’s division 1, Werribee was hammered 14-0 by reigning premier Springvale at home on Saturday. The Giants are yet to register a victory in three games this season; they faced the other winless side, Malvern, last night.

On Saturday they take on coach Tony Culph’s former club, Footscray.
