A sombre Werribee Giants were beaten 13-3 by Sunshine Eagles on the opening day of the Baseball Victoria summer league division 2 season.
It was a tough week for the Giants players, who wore black armbands to mourn the passing of friend and player Michael Riches, 25, who died in a car crash near Bendigo last Tuesday.
His funeral will be held at the Werribee Racing Club today at 11am.
