Buses will operate through Sanctuary Lakes for the first time from next April.
The new service will run on weekdays along Sanctuary Lakes Boulevard and Point Cook Road to Laverton station.
Services will run every 40 minutes during peak times and 60 minutes at other times.
The new service follows feedback to Public Transport Victoria’s Wyndham Network Plan, whose architects sought submissions on proposed changes to the city’s bus routes.
Once implemented, the plan will provide Wyndham with more than 800 extra bus services a week, improving services in Wyndham Vale, Tarneit, Manor Lakes, Williams Landing and Point Cook.
The new services will coincide with the opening of Regional Rail Link stations at Wyndham Vale and Tarneit.
PTV said the plan had received overwhelming support from residents, with more than 400 people providing feedback.
A PTV spokesman said almost 80 per cent of residents supported the changes.
“Fifty per cent of residents said they would increase their use of public transport should the proposals be realised,” he said.
But residents were also fearful of the impact of Palmers Road traffic on the new Point Cook east-west route.
Western Metropolitan Liberal MP Bernie Finn said the Coalition would deliver all 800 new services if re-elected in November.
Mr Finn said the plan would provide Wyndham with more frequent and direct services on major routes, expanded coverage and strong connections with trains at the new stations and along the Werribee line.
PTV is finalising the new network.
