Public transport push

The campaign to ‘Get Wyndham Moving’ is about to take to the city’s roads. Promotional messages on 10 Westrans buses will urge people to demand urgent road upgrades and public transport across Wyndham. For more details about the campaign visit www.getwyndhammoving.com.au.

Pizzas for sick girl

Domino’s Pizza stores in Werribee, Hoppers Crossing and Seabrook are encouraging people to help raise some dough for Werribee girl Alex Miller. Last October, five-year-old Alex was diagnosed with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, a rare and incurable tumour in the middle of the brain stem that affects only children On September 19 and 20, the three Domino’s stores will donate $1 from every pizza sold to support Alex and her family.

State election moves

Two unsuccessful Wyndham council candidates and a defeated federal candidate have been preselected by the Liberal Party to contest Werribee, Tarneit and Altona at November’s

state election. Tarun Singh, who

stood in Harrison ward at the 2012 council elections, will take on Labor MP Tim Pallas and the Greens’ Bro Sheffield-Brotherton in Werribee. In Tarneit, Dinesh Gourisetty will go up against Labor’s Telmo Languiller and Greens candidate Rohan Wearing. Altona Labor MP Jill Hennessy will square off against former federal Liberal candidate Nihal Samara.
