Hoppers Crossing shoppers fire up for charities

Customers of a Hoppers Crossing store have helped to raise $80,000 for charities.

The Good Guys Hoppers Crossing have donated a percentage of every sale made to groups such as Open Families Australia since 2006.

The organisation’s partnerships manager, Rachel Porter, said the money would go a long way.

“Our programs and services, which aim to provide people with essential support when they need it most, rely greatly on donations from the community,” she said. “The funds raised from The Good Guys customers have been a tremendous help … you can’t put a dollar figure on the difference this support has made to locals in our community.”

Fab DeCesaris from the Good Guys Hoppers Crossing thanked the community for digging deep.

“Organisations such as Open Family Australia are so important to our local community,” Mr DeCesaris said.

“Nationally, we are delighted that our customers have helped us reach $6 million in donations, but locally what matters is the impact our customers have made on local projects and services.”

The Good Guys Hoppers Crossing’s Local Giving Program, in which a percentage of every transaction in store and online is donated back to community organisations has
provided more than $80,000 since the program began, with each customer invited to join in and have their say as to where the funding is distributed.

“We do this by providing a heart-shaped token at the checkout that can be placed into the token box for our nominated cause partners,” Mr DeCesaris said.
