Thieves have stolen more than $10,000 worth of items from a Werribee disability support group.
The Mambourin Sensory Gardens in Werribee are used by not-for-profit organisation Mambourin to provide job-ready training for people with disabilities.
The gardens also act as a scenic setting for weddings and other events.
The site has been repeatedly targeted in the past few months, with thieves taking anything that is not nailed down.
Mambourin chief operating officer Michael Homann said thefts and vandalism was a constant headache.
“It’s pretty devastating for the people we support,” Mr Homann said.
“I’ve been here for five years and it happened sporadically over that time, but recently it’s been happening constantly.
“We even installed security cameras and over the next two days they stole them.”
Garden workers now arrive every day to assess damage and see what has been taken during the night.
The most serious damage was caused to a vehicle used to make deliveries and transport clients. Its windows were smashed and its battery stolen.
Garden caretaker Julie Beggs said those responsible were causing more damage than they realised.
“When you look at it, they are stealing from the disabled,’’ Mrs Beggs said.
‘‘It’s a low act. They don’t seem to have a conscience or seem to care about who they’re stealing from.”
