Wyndham Vale Community Centre will be decked out with Christmas decorations and bursting with festive cheer a little earlier than usual this year.
The NewStart Church of Christ, which holds its services at the centre, is holding a Christmas in July celebration on July 25 to boost community spirits and raise money for local groups.
Pastor Neil Taylor said the celebration would include a three-course meal, carolers, raffles, door prizes and maybe even a visit from Santa.
Money raised will be donated to Foodbank, Manor Lakes College and Our Lady of the Southern Cross Primary School.
Mr Taylor said Foodbank, which was run by the church, provided non-perishable food and other items to people in need.
“We strive to assist in ways that enhance the dignity, respect and self-care of everyone involved,” he said.
He’s hoping the event will help generate more community activities and encourage people to have some fun during the chilly winter months.
Tickets cost $15 and are available from the community centre, on the corner of Howqua Way and Manor Lakes Boulevard.
