Werribee woman faces speeding, drug driving charges

A Werribee woman is expected to be charged after she was caught in Hoppers Crossing on Tuesday driving a hire car while on drugs and while her licence was disqualified.

Victoria Police spokeswoman Kelly Yates said members of the Heavy Vehicle Unit detected a Toyota Corolla travelling 126km/h in a 60km/h zone along Heaths Road about 7.45am.

“Police intercepted the vehicle and discovered the 26-year-old driver was disqualified,” Ms Yates said.

“The Werribee woman returned a positive oral fluid drug test at the scene. This will be subject to forensic testing.”

She is expected to be charged on summons with various offences including  speeding and dangerous and drug driving.

The vehicle was not impounded as it was a hire car on a short-term lease.
