Hollywood hope for Hoppers Crossing’s Ocean Greig

Like many teenagers, Ocean Greig dreams of becoming a famous actor.

The Hoppers Crossing Secondary College student hopes a trip to Hollywood next year will help make her dream come true. But to get there, she needs to raise $8000.

Her mum, Jemima Greig, says she can’t afford to fund Ocean’s trip, having given up work to be a full-time carer for her youngest son, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in September 2012.

Ms Greig is hoping Ocean will be able to raise enough money to take part in Hollywood acting classes.

“I don’t want Ocean to miss out on all the opportunities available just because of money,” Ms Greig said.

Ocean, 13, has been selected to take part in the classes through her acting school, Screen Actors Werribee.

“The people who will teach us have been acting for a long time. They’ll help us learn about the industry,” she said.

Ocean, who has been taking acting classes sine she was seven, says she would love to pursue a career in film or theatre.

“I like doing theatre and singing … anything to do with performing arts would be great, but making movies in America would be a dream.”
