Is “Get Wyndham Moving” actually moving anything? I received an e-mail the other day telling me all the latest information, but is anything actually happening?
I’m increasingly of the belief that this campaign is all talk and not much action. And in this case, talk isn’t cheap.
My concern here is that this is a campaign that makes it look like something is being done, when actually nothing is changing at all.
Is this just another bureaucratic exercise? It certainly is not up there with the toxic dump in terms of action based on public support.
Some feedback regarding some recent columns: Every e-mail I received regarding telemarketers was critical of the timing, the approach and the nuisance value of these calls. I am told you can sign up to a Do Not Call register – donotcall.gov.au – and it works the same way as the Do Not Knock signs at your home. Really? Why do I have to register to stop people trying to sell me services or goods that I don’t want to know about?
The Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal is one of the highest-profile charity appeals on the calendar and this year the generosity of the people of Wyndham raised $63,000.
Captain Lance Jeffrey headed up a dedicated group of volunteers who did a great job on behalf of those less fortunate than us. I’m told that many people who themselves aren’t exactly flush with funds and resources were among the most willing to give.
