YOUR SHOT: Hoppers Crossing DJ duo shoots for big time

Two Hoppers Crossing music lovers are hoping to win a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that could have them travelling the world and entertaining thousands of people.

Natasha Roman and Ronin Wahab make up Equalibrium, a DJ duo selected as finalists in Your Shot, a national competition that offers young people the chance to become professional record scratchers.

Entrants are given six weeks of full DJ training before the best performers from each state are chosen to play sets at national and international events – an opportunity that could pave their way to musical fame.

With similar tastes in music, Roman and Ronin Wahab say they’re hoping their duo act will help them stand out from the crowd.

And while their university degrees take first priority – Wahab is studying electrical engineering and commerce at RMIT, while Roman is studying agriculture and animal science at Melbourne University – they both says being professional DJs is their dream career.

“Being a DJ is the first step, but I think to be successful in the industry you need to produce songs,” Wahab says. “All the most successful people in the industry write and produce songs of their own and I think that’s what we’d like to do after this.”
