A councillor claims that the Post Master General’s department is defying a council by-law which requires road crossings to be carried out by boring the surface. Cr Peter Jackson said a PMG official claims boring is too costly and the department will continue to open the road. He claims three sealed roads have now been ruined.

An innovative idea to begin a consumer-based credit co-operative in the west has been proposed by senior municipal community services personnel employed by western region councils. The proposal is to employ a research worker for a year to investigate the feasibility of establishing the Western Region Credit Co-operative.

The German tourist charged with the dangerous driving that led to the death of Wyndham man Steven Briggs could delay his return to Australia for at least three years. The tourist, who returned to Germany for surgery while on bail, is at high risk of thrombosis if he flies back to Australia because of leg injuries sustained in the collision last July.
