A woman who was punched in the face during a daylight mugging also had her house robbed days after the violent attack in Hoppers Crossing.
Police say the 54-year-old victim was first assaulted while walking home from Werribee Plaza along Westmill Drive, Hoppers Crossing, just before 2pm on Friday, May 23.
While she was walking, a man in his 20s rode by on a bike, and grabbed at her handbag.
The victim fought back, hitting the man in the chest and refusing to give up her possessions.
The man then punched the woman in the face, breaking her sunglasses, before fleeing with the woman’s handbag.
Police have described the offender as being of Islander appearance, with short, dark hair and an an acne-scarred face. He was riding a grey mountain bike and wearing an orange, high-visibility vest, windcheater and jeans.
On Tuesday morning, the victim discovered that her house had been broken into some time between 10.15am and 1.30pm.
Victoria Police spokeswoman Creina O’Grady said thieves smashed a bedroom window before making off with cash and a digital camera.
