Hoppers Crossing: Police probe man’s death at unit

Police are investigating the death of a man after his body was found at a Hoppers Crossing unit on Monday afternoon.

About 1.30pm, police were called to the Heaths Road property after it was reported that a deceased person had been spotted inside.

Detective Senior Sergeant John Johnston from the Wyndham Crime Investigation Unit told Star Weekly a man aged about 45 had been found dead at the property.

“Police were made aware that there was a deceased person at the address and once they attended the scene they were able to confirm that,” Detective Senior Sergeant Johnston said.

“Another person was present at the address and they are assisting police with their inquiries.”

He said it was not yet known how the man had died but a post-mortem was due to be finished and a report would be prepared for the coroner.

“The cause of death was not obvious at the time and further investigation was of course warranted,” he said.

“The deceased may have been dead for several days.

“Regardless of the outcome of the post-mortem, we will be preparing a report for the coroner.”

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
