Werribee campaign is taking care of business

Werribee businesses have united in an attempt to increase trade in the centre of town.

Werribee Chamber of Commerce president Tonia Tribe said several businesses were joining forces as part of a new VIP program.

The initiative is an extension of the chamber’s Live Local, Love Local campaign, designed to encourage residents to shop in Wyndham in a bid to boost businesses and jobs.

Ms Tribe said about nine businesses were already on board.

“The idea is to create a town-wide database, so that when people join up they can receive special discounts at their favourite stores,” she said.

“This will be an ongoing program and we’re hoping the number of businesses involved will grow so that the range of offers available to people will grow, too.”

Ms Tribe, who owns Werribee’s Tonia T Boutique, says she hopes the new program will get people excited about shopping in Werribee’s CBD.

“We’re trying to create a sense of vibrancy in the town so that everyone knows what’s going on,” she said.

“Not only is it a chance for people to get special offers at different shops, it’s also a promotional and networking avenue for the businesses.”
