A final-quarter fightback allowed Werribee to secure a five-point VFL win against Casey Scorpions on Sunday.
The Tigers started slowly at Casey Fields, giving up five goals in the first quarter. As rain and wind prevailed, the 24-point margin looked as if it would be tough to overcome, but Werribee was up for the challenge.
While defensively shutting Casey down, the Tigers made the most of their chances around goal to close the gap to eight points heading into the last break.
With all the momentum, Werribee completed the comeback with three final-quarter goals sealing the 8.10 (58) to 8.5 (53) victory.
Mason Wood was the Tigers’ leading goalscorer with three, and Michael Sodomaco was impressive around the ground. Werribee is in fourth spot on the VFL ladder with a 3-2 record.
Williamstown had a come-from-behind win against Collingwood, and Footscray lost to North Ballarat.
