Man stabbed in back in Hoppers Crossing gang attack

A man has been stabbed in the back after a group of thugs demanded he hand over his wallet in Hoppers Crossing overnight.

Police believe the gang attacked the 25-year-old victim on Hogans Road, Hoppers Crossing,  just before midnight on Saturday, a Victoria Police spokeswoman said.

The offenders then drove off in a car, empty handed.

Ray Rowe from Ambulance Victoria said the man was treated at the scene and suffered injuries to his upper body.

He was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a stable condition.
