Fresh face in Tarneit as Pallas hopes for Werribee

The Tarneit electorate will have a new MP after next year’s state election, with opposition treasury spokesman Tim Pallas seeking preselection for the new seat of Werribee.

Tarneit was significantly altered during a boundary redistribution earlier this year, shifting the suburb of Werribee to the new electorate.

The change forced Mr Pallas, whose electorate office is on Station Street, Werribee, to choose whether he would contest Tarneit or Werribee in the coming election.

Derrimut’s Labor MP Telmo Languiller intends to seek preselection for Tarneit.

Mr Languiller, who has been Derrimut MP since 1999, said he had a clear understanding of the issues affecting Tarneit residents.

The Labor Party is expected to finalise its candidates by December 15.
