After Angelina Jolie, it’s back home to Point Cook

After working with Hollywood superstar Angelina Jolie on her latest movie, a Point Cook filmmaker will shun the bright lights to work on a grassroots project.

Byron J Brochmann is the assistant director on Jolie’s film Unbroken, now being shot in Australia.

Brochmann and fellow Point Cook resident and film producer Tony Hooper are using crowdfunding to finance a short film against domestic violence and its effects on children.

Brochmann will direct Under The Bed, a film written by Hooper about family violence from a child’s perspective, which will air at film festivals around the world. The pair have raised $1500 toward the initial $14,000 cost to produce the live action and animated film.

Under The Bed will open up our views on a life lived through violence and the effects it has on everyday children,’’ Brochmann said.

Hooper said people could buy a $50 sponsorship for the film as a Christmas gift and have their friend or relatives’ name in the movie’s credits.

“It isn’t fair to turn a blind eye.”
