When Jillian Lawrow battles to cycle up to 65 kilometres a day through Vietnam and Cambodia next February, she will remind herself that her pain and exhaustion will help numerous women cope with being diagnosed with breast cancer.
The Point Cook resident and breast cancer survivor will be joined by 24 women from around Australia as she embarks on an 11-day charity ride to raise money for the Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA).
Mrs Lawrow, a community liaison worker for BCNA, says she jumped at the chance to take part in the Pink Pedal Challenge.
“Most of us who have breast cancer want to do something for the next girl,” she said.
“It’s a big change to your life when you are diagnosed, so the more we talk about it and people become comfortable talking about it, the more people are aware of the journey.”
