VTCA: Wyndamvale Falcon tail does the job

The tailenders provided valuable runs for Wyndhamvale, ensuring it had a score it could defend against Sunshine YCW in Victorian Turf Cricket Association west B1 at Wyndhamvale Reserve on Saturday.

The Falcons were all out for 196 in 72.4 overs – not an intimidating total by any stretch of the imagination, but far easier to digest than it might have been had lower- order batsmen Joel Roze (49) and Jonathan Ford (35) not sparkled.

The pair put on 68 for the eighth wicket and advanced the Falcons from 7-117 to 8-185.

Earlier in the innings, Luke Dennerley (23), Lee Veal (27) and Andrew Mundey (20) got starts but couldn’t go on with them.

YCW, still searching for its first win of the season, is 1-36 in reply.

Point Cook (9-181) has already swooped on first innings points over Greenvale (70) on the road.

Jason Denton (4-16) and David Hicks (70) stood out in a Warriors side with ambitions of an outright this weekend.

Seabrook had consistent effort across the board in compiling 170, but lacked a big individual score that could have delivered the knock-out blow on ladder-leader Sunshine Heights, which is 0-4 in response.
