Wedding frocks dazzle for breast cancer cause

Nola Cordell is always looking for ways to raise money to help women who are battling breast cancer.

So after coming across her wedding dress in storage, she decided to organise a display of dresses through the ages to raise money for the McGrath Foundation.

The fund-raiser will include a two-course meal on November 2 and a display of 30 dresses dating back to the 1930s, giving people a chance to see how much fashion has changed.

Ms Cordell, who has been in remission from breast cancer for five years, hopes the event will provide support to sufferers and remind women to check for lumps regularly.

The Hoppers Crossing resident has watched several members of her family beat the disease and remains hopeful that one day there will be a cure.

“Hosting our lunch is a simple thing to do and a way to help a good cause and support people with cancer,” she says.

The display is at the Italian Sports Club of Werribee from 1pm-5pm. Tickets are $55.
