Murder as a career caper

When Ron Fenton saw a live performance of Deathtrap in 1979, he never imagined it would become a prominent part of his own theatre career.

The Werribee resident made his acting debut in 1995, starring in the same play, and has chosen Deathtrap for his directorial debut.

Fenton and the Wyndham Theatre Company will take to the stage at Crossroads Uniting Church from Saturday to bring the 1970s comedy thriller to life.

Fenton says the play, written in true ‘‘murder-he-wrote’’ style, features lots of twists.

It’s on October 19, 25, 26 from 7.30pm; October 20 from 5pm; and October 27 from 4pm. Tickets cost $20.
