Point Cook photographer Wayne Quilliam has been named a finalist in an international photography and sustainability competition, the Prix Pictet.
Quilliam has also been nominated in the Monash Art Gallery’s 2013 William and Winifred Bowness Photography Prize, which celebrates Australia’s best photographers, and the Victorian Indigenous Art Awards.
Quilliam said his Prix Pictet nomination was recognition of his work with indigenous communities over the past 20 years.
“It is my hope this nomination will inspire Australians from every cultural background to share their stories with the world,” he said.
The winner of the Bowness prize will be named on October 3, with the Victorian indigenous awards announced on November 2.
The Swiss-based Prix Pictet will be decided next year.
