Four Werribee workers will swap their warm, comfortable beds for a sleeping bag at Melbourne Central on Thursday night to help bring an end to youth homelessness.
The Bendigo Bank employees will join more than 60 colleagues in Melbourne Central’s community garden to raise money for not-for-profit organisation, STREAT.
The charity runs a cafe at Melbourne Central and aims to end youth homelessness “one mouthful at a time”. The cafe also provides disadvantaged youths with training and employment opportunities.

Werribee branch member Meri Dimovska said she was expecting a rough, uncomfortable night. “We are trying to limit supplies, so we are allowed a sleeping bag or a mat and blanket. The soup kitchen will visit at 10pm, so all we will get to eat is one soup and there will be no heating or airconditioning.”
To get a feel for life on the streets, the group will wander around Melbourne from 2am on Friday. The Werribee colleagues have raised $2500 so far, while the bank has raised $19,000 in total.
