UN SETS ON ART PLAN (Weekly, September 4)
■ I was devastated to read of the rejection of the amazing artwork, Escape the Golden Sun,
to be located at the western entrance to Werribee. Public art is
something to be shared by the whole community and endures when the
original cost is well forgotten. The council has already invested many
thousands of dollars over seven years to find a suitable work of art for
this very prominent site. Now that this amazing design has been chosen,
its erection should go ahead.

■ Why has the council wasted more than
$100,000 on nothing? If someone wants their sculpture on the side of the
freeway, shouldn’t it be them putting their ideas forward to council
and then getting paid only if that particular sculpture is chosen? I
can’t even begin to understand why the council would even consider a
giant moth.

HOPE BLOOMS FOR MIGRANTS (Weekly, September 4)
■ This is just another way to show why
immigration is a failed policy. Too many people leads to overcrowding,
massive strain on infrastructure and spiralling social issues of debt,
unemployment and crime. Stop bringing people into a country that can’t
cope.

EAST-WEST LINK PROTEST (Weekly online)
■ Terry Mulder actually said “rent-a-crowd”? Well, that’s no problem. Just see whether election votes can be rented.
RENT A CROWD VIA WEB
■ Well, Sir Rod Eddington hit the nail on its head. People only have themselves to blame for the installation of the Liberal state government.
ROD FOR YOUR BACK VIA WEB
■ Memo to all governments: It is not
your money you are spending, it is taxpayers’, and we have a right to
know the costs and supposed benefits. What a fine democracy we have.
Elected dictatorship is far more apt at describing our system of
government.
