Point Cook car crash leaves man in critical condition

A MAN is clinging to life after three cars crashed in Point Cook on Sunday.

Police said the cars collided about 10.30am when a driver
travelling north on Sneydes Road veered into the wrong lane. The vehicle
and a south-bound car collided head-on, sending the south-bound car
spinning across the road and into a third vehicle.

Wyndham CFA rescue crews were called to cut the north-bound driver
free from his two-door sedan by removing a side door and folding back
the roof. The man was trapped inside the wreckage for more than 20
minutes.

He was rushed to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he remains in
a critical condition with life-threatening head injuries and broken
limbs.

Ambulance Victoria spokesman Rob Clancy said paramedics also
hospitalised the occupants of another car, including a two-year-old girl
and a woman in her 20s, who had suffered neck injuries.

The girl was taken to the Royal Children’s Hospital and is in a stable condition.

Werribee CFA rescue unit lieutenant Brett Parker said statistics
showed Werribee CFA was the third-busiest unit for road crash rescues in
Victoria.
