WERRIBEE has two games remaining in the home-and-away season, and a double chance isn’t out of the question.
The Tigers travel to Visy Park this Sunday for a clash against Northern Blues, now seventh and looking to hold off North Ballarat, Collingwood and Essendon.
The following Saturday it’s out to Victoria Park to play Collingwood, desperate to play finals after just eight wins in the past two seasons.
With plenty at stake for all involved, coach Scott West said the Port Melbourne win became even more crucial.
“That’s why this game is so important,” he said.
“It puts us ahead of Port now by two points, and obviously then we’ve got teams around us. We have to keep winning to finish as high as we can.
“The thing about footy is you just worry about what you can control; and that’s playing good footy and winning, making sure we prepare well and all those sorts of things so we can perform like we did today.”
The Tigers also had a big victory in the development league – 76-point winners over Port Melbourne. Robert Hicks booted four, while Will Martiniello put his hand up for a senior recall with a best-on-ground performance.
