The fight against breast cancer has a new champion

A WERRIBEE man will  push his mind and body to the limit in charity runs, bike rides and a climb to the base camp at Mount Everest to raise money for breast cancer research.

Joseph Di Bennardo  will start his fund-raising campaign in Sydney this Sunday with a 14-kilometre run through the CBD to Bondi Beach. On October 13, he will run the Melbourne Marathon.

Seven days later he will jump on his bicycle and ride 250 kilometres around Port Philip Bay in Around the Bay in a Day, before a 19-day trek to Mount Everest base camp in January.

Di Bennardo says he decided to raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation after watching relatives battle breast cancer.  He hopes to raise $5000.

Di Bennardo has previously completed a half marathon in Prague and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and Machu Picchu.

But he says competing in four gruelling exercises in five months will be the hardest thing he has had to do.

Di Bennardo says he  has always been a keen runner and an advocate of healthy living.

“I want to give back to the community any way I can.”
