SEAN Crawford believes he has been given a second chance at life.
Mr Crawford is thriving thanks to receiving a kidney transplant in 2008 after spending five years on dialysis.
To celebrate, the Point Cook resident has travelled to Durban, South Africa to compete in the World Transplant Games.
The games, which finish on August 4, encourage organ transplant recipients to remain active and make the most of their renewed health.
Mr Crawford said the games are about more than just competing – they are about demonstrating that organ and tissue donation can save lives.
“Setting and achieving realistic goals is always a positive thing to do in life. The games are one such event where this can be done, whether it be winning, achieving personal bests or just taking part.”
Mr Crawford will compete in swimming events, including the 150-metre backstroke.
