A SURVEY has shed light on layers of Wyndham’s history lying below Werribee cemetery.
The Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust has used radar technology to create a complete map of the cemetery, including unmarked graves.
The project was launched last year after Wyndham council said it believed historic records detailing burials and plot locations from 1864 and 1909 had been destroyed in a fire.
GBC Australia used a mobile radar unit to locate coffin-shaped disturbances about 900 millimetres below the soil surface in the cemetery.
