Murdered man died of neck injuries: court

A WERRIBEE man who was found dead in Fitzroy earlier this year died of neck injuries, a court has heard.

Shaun Wright, 21, died on Johnston Street on the morning of March 17.

Police say CCTV footage showed him being chased hundreds of metres through the streets of Fitzroy in the lead-up to his death.

A Preston man, 25, has been charged with Mr Wright’s murder and faced Melbourne Magistrates Court yesterday.

The court heard that glass was found in Mr Wright’s neck and he had suffered multiple other injuries.

The man did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody to appear in October for a two-day committal hearing.

His co-accused – a Sydenham man, 21, a North Melbourne woman, 18, and a Burnside woman, 20 – are on bail and will return to court next month to face affray charges.
