WERRIBEE South residents want roads duplicated and community facilities built before a ferry service is launched.
Residents believe the ferry will help turn Werribee South and Wyndham Harbour into tourist destinations but are worried about the impact on their community. “We are concerned about the impact that more cars, more houses and more traffic may have in our intensive agricultural area,” said Ratepayers of Werribee South president Marisa Berton.
Ms Berton said Duncans Road and other key roads would need to be duplicated.
She also had concerns about increased traffic clashing with farming activity and the effect mud would have on commuter vehicles.
“[They] will need to . . . provide planning for basic crucial township services neglected in the past, including kindergartens, schools, emergency services, a medical centre, post office, sports facilities and senior citizens’ community activities,” Ms Berton said.
