DOZENS of Point Cook residents have banded together to make their suburb safer following ‘‘stranger danger’’ concerns near schools.
Point Cook Neighbourhood Watch, which received accreditation this month, aims to reduce crime, encourage safety and security, and forge closer community ties.
Organiser Sushanthi Arachchi (pictured, left, with committee members Sacha Delimitros, Michelle Fiorillo and Wil Visser) says the Saltwater Coast-based program, supported by developer FKP, was started because of safety worries among young families in the estate.
“The police can’t be here 24/7 so the best thing to do is be on the lookout for each other.”
