Art set to bust Manor Lakes College’s boundary

STUDENTS at a Wyndham Vale school are hoping to make a difference in their community through art.

Year 9 students at Manor Lakes College are spending one day a week creating public art as part of the school’s ‘learning for life’ program.

The program encourages students to get involved in their community through public artworks, excursions and community service.

Art technician Cathy Mackay said a public art group led by teacher Larissa Taylor was improving the school grounds by painting water tanks and creating sculptures, helping students take ownership of new buildings.

Ms Mackay said the school was also looking for community groups and businesses interested in having water tanks painted or art sculptures installed.

“We are searching for interested people so we can branch out,” she said.

‘‘It is out intention to reach further into the community through public art projects in the local area.’’
