BUDDING horticulturalists can learn their trade at Werribee Park with a training college open at the historic homestead.
The Australian College of Agriculture and Horticulture is offering certificates II and III in amenity horticulture as part of a Parks Victoria and AMES ‘Beyond the Boundaries’ program.
Eighteen future horticulturists, including students from Wyndham high schools, are enrolled in the program and recently replanted the park’s parterre garden with 7000 flowering annuals.
Student Harley Graham plans to become a landscape gardener and said the program had taught him about different types of gardening.
Training co-ordinator Alvin Gopal said the location meant students could immediately practice what they were learning.
