Body found after Little River blaze

A man was found dead after a fast-running grass fire broke out in Little River yesterday afternoon.

Police discovered the body in a paddock near the intersection of Little River-Ripley Road and Kirk Bridge Road about 4pm.

The fire is believed to have started near a shed on a property in Little River-Ripley Road at 3.30pm and quickly spread to surrounding paddocks.

CFA spokesman Gerard Scholten said it took eight fire crews about 30 minutes to bring the three-hectare blaze under control.

Police spokeswoman Jo Stafford said they were yet to determine if the man died as a result of the fire. He had yet to be formally identified.
