Finnan’s Gift fund-raiser

In 2011, Olympian Alisa Camplin lost her baby boy, Finnan, to congenital heart disease. From this tragic event came Finnan’s Gift, a charity dedicated to raising funds for babies with the same illness.

On Sunday, April 21, popular venue Hotel 520 in Tarneit will hold a Ladies Poker Champs competition, organised by Full House Group, to help raise funds for the charity.

“In 2011, Finnan’s Gift donated a state-of-the-art echo-cardiology heart scanning machine to the cardiology department of the Royal Children’s Hospital,” Full House Group marketing general manager Sarah Franklyn says.

“We’re hoping with the support of the female poker players we can raise extra vital funds.”

Alisa Camplin and fellow Olympian Lauren Mark will be at the fun-filled day which kicks off with a champagne breakfast, courtesy of the hotel.

Cash and prizes will be given away, including a first prize of $1000, and the chance to be crowned poker’s Victorian Ladies Champion. “The tournament is open to female poker players — from beginners to pros,” says Sarah.

“There will also be a couple of side tournaments for guys, so partners are encouraged to attend.”

Registration is at 10am on the day with the tournament kicking off at 11am. Tickets are $60.
