Animal instincts at Werribee zoo

BUDDING zookeepers have been invited behind the scenes at Werribee Open Range Zoo to get up close and personal with the animals.

High school students like Maddy and Riley (pictured) took part in the zoo’s ‘keeper for a day’ holiday program last Thursday, giving them a chance to learn about keepers’ daily duties.

Students were asked to help with tasks including feeding cheetahs, cleaning up the hippo enclosure and helping with health checks.

Visitors can also learn more about gorillas Motaba, Ganyeka and Yakini during special holiday presentations at 2pm daily.
