Murder victim Shaun Wright ‘genuine’ and ‘great bloke’

FRIENDS of murdered Werribee man Shaun Wright have taken to social media to pay tribute to ‘‘a genuine friend’’.

Mr Wright died on March 17 in Fitzroy after being stabbed following a night out with friends.

One friend reminisced about the first time she met the former MacKillop College student. ‘‘You had such a huge heart and were an amazing guy to know. You were such a true genuine friend from that first meeting,’’ she said. Another friend wrote that Mr Wright was a ‘‘great bloke’’ whom he could always have a laugh with.

Police have charged Fatah Issah, 25, of Preston, with Mr Wright’s murder.

He faced Melbourne Magistrates Court on March 20. The court heard that Mr Wright was chased hundreds of metres through the streets of Fitzroy before he was killed.

Police asked for 12 weeks to prepare a brief for the case, saying the matter involved extensive CCTV footage of the incident and the chase.

Issah did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody to reappear in court in July.

A Sydenham man, 21, a North Melbourne woman, 18, and a Burnside woman, 20, have also faced court charged with affray.
