A TARNEIT man has been arrested after police raided an international crime syndicate based in Melbourne’s west.
The man, 49 was arrested on Friday along with six others allegedly involved in an elaborate drug trafficking and money laundering operation, after Australian Federal Police executed dozens of search warrants across Melbourne.
The raids by federal and Victorian police netted 42 kilograms of heroin and methamphetamines, and more than $10 million in assets including $4 million in cash, residential properties worth $5 million, $600,000 in Crown Casino chips, jewellery worth $10,000, 99 designer handbags and wallets, and a Lamborghini.
The Tarneit man faced Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday, charged with dealing in the proceeds of crime and importing and trafficking drugs.
The AFP’s Commander David Sharpe said those arrested had been key players in the syndicate.
